Mi libro, mi amor
Desde 1967, el 2 de abril, coincidiendo con la fecha del nacimiento del escritor danés Hans Christian Andersen, el IBBY promueve la celebración del Día Internacional del Libro Infantil con el fin de promocionar los buenos libros infantiles y juveniles y la lectura entre los más jóvenes.
Cada año, una sección nacional del IBBY tiene la oportunidad de ser la patrocinadora internacional del Día del Libro Infantil y selecciona un escritor representativo y a un reconocido ilustrador de su país para que elaboren el mensaje dirigido a todos los niños del mundo y el cartel que se distribuye por todo el mundo, y se promueva la celebración en las bibliotecas, centros escolares, librerías, etc.
En 1999, el país elegido es España. El diseño del cartel es de Javier Serrano, y el texto, de Miguel Ángel Fernández-Pacheco.

mil millones de veces repartido
en cientos de miles de bibliotecas.
Ya sé que te han prohibido
muchas veces
y quemado otras tantas.

como si fueras sólo mío,
y como si tu salvación
dependiera de mí.
¡Y cómo no quererte,
cuando he vivido tanto
de tu luz y tu sombra,
cuando he soñado tantas veces

I know how old you are,
the thousands of years
that weigh you down.
I know your heart
is spread over many corners
billions of times shared out
in libraries by the hundreds thousands.
I know you have been banned
many times
and as often burned.
But I love you
as if you had been born yesterday,
as if you were mine alone,
and as if you depended on me
for your salvation.
How could I not love you,
when I have lived so much
in your light and in your shadow,
when I have dreamed so often
of you in my hands,
when, thanks to you,
I have escaped from my suffering
and been able to face injustice,
when you have ended up becoming
my entire memory
and what is even better
the entire memory of my kind!

that I have loved you from childhood
